FAQ:

Q: What should I do if I can't attend a rehearsal or performance?

A: Please inform the band director, Ms. Jacob as soon as possible via email at veronica.jacob@hcps.net. Regular attendance is important, but we understand that emergencies happen.

Q: What should I bring to rehearsals?

A: Bring your instrument, sheet music, a water bottle, and wear comfortable athletic clothing. It's also a good idea to have a pencil for marking your music.

Q: Are there any costs associated with joining the band?

A: There is an annual band fee that students pay every year. However, we strive to keep costs as low as possible and offer fundraising opportunities to help cover expenses. Fees include uniform items, staff instruction, marching band drill, sheet music, transportation, and more!

Q: How can I stay updated on band events and announcements?

A: Follow us on our social media pages and check your email regularly for updates from the band director. Important announcements will also be made during rehearsals. Ms. Jacob sends out a weekly newsletter through Remind and CutTime, so stay tuned!

Q: What if I need help with my music or marching technique?

A: Don't hesitate to ask for help! Your section leaders and fellow band members are here to support you. You can also schedule a time to meet with the band director for additional assistance.

Q: Can parents get involved with the band?

A: Absolutely! We welcome and appreciate parent volunteers for events, fundraising, and other activities. If your parents are interested, they can contact the band booster club for more information.

Q: What happens if it rains on a rehearsal day?

A: If the weather is bad, we'll move our rehearsal to the gymnasium. Always check your email or our social media pages for any last-minute changes.

Q: How do I join the Band Boosters?

A: The band booster club is a great way for parents to get involved. Information on joining will be provided at the first parent meeting of the year.

Q: Can I do Band and ...?

A: Our members participate in high level academics (AP, AICE, and dual enrollment courses), JV/Varsity sports including football, flag football, soccer, baseball, volleyball and more), many have jobs outside of school, and many are also part of other campus organizations such as JROTC, National Honor Society, Orchestra, Theater, SGA and more!
